Assistive Listening Devices (ALDs)

ALDs come in the form of devices that work to enhance specific listening environments. For example, there are devices that just amplify the sound of the TV, so that the person with hearing loss is the only person receiving amplification from the TV. There are devices available for the telephone, movie theaters, churches, business meetings, concert halls, and schools.

ALDs also come in the form of alerting devices, providing safety in the home or work environment. Some examples of alerting devices, include amplified smoke alarms, alarm clocks, door bells, and security systems.

ALDs may be an affordable way to make your living and work environments safer, and enhance overall communication abilities.

Battery Sales

We keep a supply of batteries for you to purchase in our office. Stop in routinely for fresh batteries. Make sure to check the batteries in your hearing devices often and make sure there is no dirt, wax or debris interfering with the batteries performance. Batteries that are properly charged will make a noise (a squeal) when cupped in your hand or after it has been inserted in your ear, when you cup your hand over the hearing aid it will also make a noise.

Cell Phone Accessories

Custom earmolds for cell phone headrests, Bluetooth compatible device, hands-free and more.

Diagnostic Audiologic Evaluations

Scheduled and performed by our licensed and nationally certified Hearing Healthcare Professional are subject to professional fees. Insurance often covers these services.

Diagnostic Hearing Evaluations

During your examination you will be tested using a series of low & high frequency words to determine your ability to understand verbiage within a conversation. We will also give you several words to repeat. The results will help us determine your percentage of hearing loss, your ability to understand speech and how hearing aids will improve your ability to hear.

Ear Molds: Custom-made noise protection earmolds

We recommend custom hearing protection devices and earmolds for any individual who is exposed to noise at work or recreationally. Specifically, these custom earmolds are best suited to the following people: contractors, construction workers, hunters, factory workers, heavy machinery operators, mechanics, pilots and aircraft crew, musicians, race car drivers and fans, motorcycle enthusiasts, and any other people exposed to loud environments.

Hearing Aid Dispensing & Fitting

At the hearing aid fitting, you will receive the hearing aids you selected.  They are programmed based on a prescription that is specific to each person’s hearing loss.  The hearing professional may make adjustments after you try the hearing aids to make sure the settings and fit are ideal for you.

Hearing Aids: Sales and Service

Please call 971-4199 or stop by the Center to inquire about specific makes and models of hearing aids.

Hearing Evaluations: Adults

The evaluation starts with a thorough case history and visual examination of the ears. We use video otoscopy to allow you to see your outer ear and eardrum! Immittance testing is then done, including a Tympagnogram (middle ear test) that shows the Audiologist how the eardrum and middle ear are functioning. An Acoustic Reflex test is part of the immittance testing, which checks how well sounds travel to and from the hearing mechanism. Puretone and speech testing then reveal how well you hear at each frequency in each ear. We may also do an Otoacoustic Emmission test to quickly determine if each ear is capable of receiving sounds.

Hearing Evaluations: Children

We use Video Otoscopy (visual inspection of the ears), a Tympanogram (middle ear test), Acoustic Reflex testing (test of the integrity of the hearing mechanism), and Otoacoustic Emmissions (test of the ability of each ear to receive sounds), to begin testing with each child. We then use visual rewards to test children in the soundbooth, or if they are able to wear earphones, we can use play to determine how quietly children may hear sounds in each ear. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to join the child in the soundbooth. We always make the experience fun and interactive!

In Office Services

We encourage ongoing cleaning and maintenance after your hearing aid purchase to ensure you receive optimum performance and benefit from your hearing aid(s). We encourage all our patients to come in for regular hearing aid check-ups and cleaning.

Repairs, Maintenance, Cleanings, and Warranties come with all brands of hearing aids. We offer in-office repairs when possible on most makes/models.

Industrial hearing screenings

Workers in certain occupations are required to receive regular hearing tests due to the risk of hearing loss that can be caused by excessive noise in their workplace.  These hearing screenings can be completed in less than 30 minutes, and comply with the standards set by OSHA.

Loop Induction Systems

Musicians' Custom Ear Plugs and Monitors

Conventional earplugs muffle speech and music. Musicians' custom earplugs and monitors allow the passage of certain frequencies in order to provide the most natural, clear, and accurate sounds while wearing hearing protection.

Who uses Musicians' Earplugs?
Musicians, Marching Bands, Sound Crews, Recording Engineers, Band Teachers, Concert Goers, DJs, Airline Personnel, Athletic Coaches, Athletes, Referees and Timekeepers, Motorcyclists, Dentists.

OAEs

Otoacoustic emission testing allows the audiologist to understand how the outer hair cells of your inner ear are working.

Real-ear measurement

A small, thin computer probe is placed into the ear canal alongside the hearing aid. Computer measurements are made to ensure that the hearing aid is accurately producing the prescribed sound levels in your ear. This technology provides the most precise sound through the hearing aid.

Tinnitus Diagnostics

Tinnitus is usually only heard by the individual perceiving it, and therefore may be difficult to measure. However, we can match the pitch of the tinnitus, and therefore uncover what type of treatment, therapy or device may be most suitable for your type of tinnitus.

Tinnitus Evaluation and Management

Tinnitus is described as a ringing in the ear, and can range in severity.  A tinnitus evaluation can help you identify how much tinnitus interferes with your daily life and if there are treatment options that can benefit you.

Tympanometry

Tympanometry is an examination used to test the condition of the middle ear and mobility of the eardrum (tympanic membrane) and the conduction bones, by creating variations of air pressure in the ear canal.
